About A. V. Weavetex – Textile in Panipat
Working at A. V. Weavetex means coming down Jattal Road every day. You go past both the canals and there we are. The sound of the machines is the first thing you notice when you walk in. It's loud, but you get used to it after a week or two. We do a lot of weaving here. The yarn comes in and we turn it into whatever is needed. The lights aren't always the brightest in the back corners, but we know where everything is. It's a practical setup. We have a small area for tea breaks which is where most of the talking happens. The floor is concrete and stays cool even when the sun is hitting the roof hard. There is always a pile of scrap material somewhere that needs sorting. We don't have a receptionist or a lobby. You just walk in and find whoever is available. Most of the staff live nearby, so we see each other at the market too. It's a steady rhythm of work. We pack the rolls of cloth and stack them near the door for the trucks. Some days are faster than others. The canal breeze helps a bit in the summer, though it can bring mosquitoes. We just keep our heads down and handle the textile work as it comes. It's just a regular day-to-day operation over here.
