Description
Solar photovoltaic (PV) technology, in particular, is emerging as an extremely attractive option, particularly with abundantly available solar resources, modular technology and zero fuel costs over 25-30 years of the project life. The power generated by each individual household, industrial building, commercial building or any other type of building can be used to partly fulfill the requirement of the building occupants and surplus, if any, can be fed into the grid. The roof-top SPV systems on building’s roof space can be installed to replace DG gensets for operation during load shedding. The price of power generated from solar plants installed today is at par with or lower than the commercial tariff for consumers. in grid connected rooftop or small SPV system, the DC power generated from SPV panel is converted to AC power using power conditioning unit and is fed to the grid either of 33 kV/11 kV three phase lines or of 440/220 Volt three/single phase line depending on the capacity of the system.
