Why Energy Flow ?
Long-duration energy storage is crucial for accelerating the adoption of renewables. Flow batteries are emerging as a promising solution for meeting long-duration storage needs. A key advantage of our approach is the use of abundant and affordable electrolytes, making our Sulfur Iron Flow battery an attractive option for long-duration storage. We are currently commercializing this innovative technology.
Application
Our solution is designed for applications requiring more than 20 hours of energy storage. We primarily focus on industries that utilize off-grid renewable energy or renewable sources connected to weak grids. Our solution supports renewable energy adoption by overcoming the challenges of daily and seasonal intermittency.
Energy Flow Sulfur - Iron Flow Battery
A flow battery is an electrochemical energy storage device. Unlike conventional batteries, the electrolyte, which stores the energy, is kept outside the cell section in liquid form within a tank. The electrolyte is pumped into the cell section during charging or discharging processes. This design allows for the adjustment of the electrolyte volume to modify the battery system's backup duration. Flow batteries, with their scalable backup capacity, offer a promising solution. Unlike vanadium-based flow batteries, which rely on expensive and rare materials, our sulfur-iron flow battery utilizes abundant and affordable electrolytes, making it an ideal choice for long-duration storage exceeding 20 hours.
