Rajapalayam Mills Limited was started in the year 1936 and was the first Spinning Mill in India with Casa Blanca Drafting system (high draft) in 1938. It was the first mill in the region to install an Automatic Cone Winding Machine from Schweiter in 1978 and the first to get Open End Spinning machines from Rieter, Switzerland in 1982. The mill produces counts ranging from 2s to 345s and various value-added products like Gassed, Mercerised, Elitwist, and Amsler Slub Yarns. Two divisions, Rajapalaiyam Spintext and Rajapalaiyam Textiles, were started in 1991 and 1996 respectively, to produce high-quality yarn mainly for export to Japan. A fully automatic Rieter Spinning project was commissioned in 2008, and compact spinning attachments were installed in 2000. The company has an unbroken dividend record for 80 years and has received the 'Volkmann Golden Spindle' award.
