Inspired by a childhood friend living in a slum, Abhishek began working with street children denied school admission. The organization gained momentum after the Ayla Cyclone in Eastern India, when children lost their identity proofs and were denied schooling. Abhishek, along with his friend Amit, took legal steps to file affidavits and started a 'Non-Formal School' under the open sky, working night shifts to fund the initiative. On January 1st, 2013, the first group of these children entered a government school. Today, My Abhilasha is a beacon of hope in West Bengal, fighting child labor through education, health and nutrition camps, and policy advocacy.
