Founded by Shri Shamnur Shivashankrappa, Chairman of Shamanur Group of Industries, Davangere, and former Member of Parliament (MP) and Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Davangere, ICPL stands as a testament to his visionary leadership in promoting industrial progress. ICPL is the brainchild of Shri S. S. Mallikarjun, the current Minister of Mines & Earth Science and Horticulture in the Government of Karnataka, as well as the District Incharge Minister for Davangere. Shri S. S. Mallikarjun, also the MLA from Davangere North Constituency and Chairman of S. S. Institute of Medical Science and Research Center, Davangere, has steered ICPL towards becoming one of India’s largest and fastest-growing fully automated sugar, power, and distillery industries. Positioned in the "High Recovery Area" of North Karnataka's sugarcane belt, which also extends into Maharashtra, ICPL procures 4 million tonnes of sugarcane from within a 15-kilometer radius and an additional 150,000 tonnes from within a 30-kilometer radius.
