ANANT Tools, the company engaged in the manufacture of Carpenter's Metal Bodied Bench Planes of different models was founded in 1949, under the name and style as 'ANANT Industries' by Late Sh. S.P. Chopra, a mechanical Engineer by profession. The work was started in a small rented building of 100 sq. yds. at New Railway Road, Jalandhar with the initial investment of INR.20,000/- only. At the very start , it was though a tiny unit, but it had the rare distinction of being the 'First Industrial Unit' to start the production of Carpenter's Iron Planes in the country, which at that time were being imported from U.K. and U.S.A. Anant products are competing with the imported products in quality and price, which were introduced in the local market in 1952. The factory was shifted from Railway Road to the Company's own premises of 1200 sq. yds. in Industrial Area in the year 1965. ANANT Tools (Unit No. II) Pvt. Ltd., is currently operating in a premises of 5000 sq. yds., at B-5, Focal Point, Jalandhar & Kamal Tools Pvt. Ltd., in a premises of 2500 sq. yds., at C-15, Focal Point, Jalandhar. Both units are now being headed and managed by Sh. Aasheesh Chopra, Son of Late Sh. Anil Chopra who managed the units until 2021. After the founder Late Sh S.P Chopra and subsequently his successor, Late Sh. Anil Chopra, the third generation, Mr. Aasheesh Chopra is now Managing the group as Managing Director. The ANANT Carpenter's Iron Planes alongwith other Carpentry Tools are well known for their quality & workmanship throughout India, and in the foreign markets also.
