What are Piston Seals?
Piston Seals are essential components used to create a seal between the piston and the cylinder bore, preventing the leakage of hydraulic fluid or air. This internal seal allows pressure to be maintained on one side of the piston, generating the necessary force to move it back and forth. Piston seals are made from materials such as PU, HPU, BFT, and NBR.
How Does a Piston Seal Work?
A piston Seal functions by containing pressure on one side of the piston without any leakage. This enables maximum mechanical effort to be applied in moving the piston along the bore of the cylinder. Piston seals can operate in hydraulic or pneumatic systems, with designs tailored to suit each specific application.
Piston Seals are designed to prevent leakage past the piston, thereby maximizing the efficiency of the system. Pressure can be applied in one direction only (single-acting) or from both directions (double-acting), allowing the piston to drive the ram both in and out.
