This is a type of modified TYTON gasket used as a self-restraining joint and can sustain much higher pressure (up to 350psi) than a regular gasket. It provides a cost-effective and easy solution in comparison to conventional means. For example, these gaskets eliminate the need for thrust blocks and mechanical joints at the bents and areas of intermittent jerks making them particularly suitable for difficult or unsuitable ground conditions such as soft ground or subsidence-prone areas where space is limited such as steep inclines or under rivers.
All Restraint Joint Gaskets are dual hardness gaskets made from vulcanized synthetic rubber according to the exposed environmental needs.
It broadly has two types of hardness compounds and a metal insert which is responsible for the restraining of the joint - (a) HEEL PART [Hardness Class 80(IRHD)] which holds the gasket at the time of fitment and (b) bulb part [Hardness Class 50 (IRHD)] which provides sealing.
High resistance to water, ozone, heat, sewerage, chloramines, UV, and abrasion.
Joints allow lateral deflection and permit axial movement to compensate for thermal expansion and contraction but the degree of deflection is lesser in comparison to a simple TYTON gasket.
