Unsaturated Polyester Resins [UPR] are the basic raw materials for the manufacturing of glass reinforced plastic [GRP] also known as FRP ( Fibreglass Reinforced Plastics) products, which find applications in diverse fields like transportation [automobiles and helmets, car patch application], marine engineering [boat application], electrical engineering [chokes and transformer application], chemical fabrication [FRP tanks, cooling tower bodies etc], General [buttons, artificial marbles]. The main advantage of Glass Reinforced Plastics is that they are corrosion resistant. Low end products like automobile body parts like helmets, mudguards, upholstery and body, building materials like doors, windows and translucent roofing sheets, process tanks susceptible to chemical corrosion, pollution control equipments for ventilating corrosive fumes, furniture like chairs and tables are the commonly found applications of composites.
