Description
Garcinia cambogia, also known as Malabar tamarind, is a plant native to Southeast Asia. The dried rind has been extensively used as a food preservative, flavoring agent, and is now popularly used as an ingredient of dietary supplements for weight loss. Studies have shown that the extracts as well as (-)-hydroxycitric acid (HCA), a main organic acid component of the fruit rind, exhibited antiobesity activity including reduced food intake and body fat gain by regulating the serotonin levels.
