Description
Hematite is a mineral form of iron oxide. It is much more common than Magnetite and is the main ore of iron. It is a hard, brittle mineral with a metallic luster. It is typically reddish-brown in color, but can also be black or gray. Hematite is insoluble in water and most acids, and it is heat stable up to its melting point of over 1,000 C (2,700 F). Hematite is non-toxic, non-oxidizing, non-corrosive & non-flammable.
