Expanded Polystyrene (EPS), known as STYROPOR*, STYROFOAM* or THERMOCOLE* is made of a plastic called styrene in which are incorporated gases or air bubbles giving the product a cellular (foam) structure. The incorporation of air results in reduction in the density of EPS. This also gives the foam the characteristics that make it an excellent insulation material and one capable of floating on water.
