Description
Different types of application methods are adopted as per the requirement of coatings & aesthetics of the equipments. Most commonly used methods are application by brush and roller / application using air assisted spraying / application using airless spraying. Brush - Generally used for maintenance or stripe coating prior to airless spray application. Multiple coats will be required when high film thicknesses are specified. Roller - Roller application is still carried out for large flat areas, like external surface of Tanks, Decks of rigs, etc.. Multiple coats will be required when high film thicknesses are specified. Air assisted spraying - Conventional Spray - To ensure the paint is fully dispersed into fine droplets for spraying it must have a low viscosity - consequently only thin films can be applied. Airless Spray - Used for the majority of marine paint types , achieves high build coats/schemes , control of application by tip size and input/output pressure , fastest method of application, suitable & preferrable for solvent less & solvent free coatings.
