We, Sri Markandeya Book Depot, commenced our operations in 1950 with our first book store in Kumbakonam with a floor space of 400 sq. ft. This humble bookstore started by Sri Ramachandra Iyer has crossed over 50 years of service since its inception and has since grown by leaps and bounds. We initially focused only on Religious books. Later we extended our product portfolio to school books, notebooks, stationery, greeting cards and music. We are now the largest and the premier book and music retail store with a floor space of 5000 sq. ft. catering to the needs of Students, the General Readers, the Professionals, Institutions, Corporate and Government organizations in the Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam districts of Tamil Nadu. Since the expansion of our product portfolio, a new store in 2008 - Sri Markandeya Book Gallery - a show room of books to cater to the needs of the General Readers came into operation. Currently the book stores are managed by two grandsons of the founder - J Kalyana Sundaram and J Sivasubramanian. As we started selling on different online marketplaces, our customer base expanded all over India and here we are with our own online marketplace - routemybook to serve our customers spread across country.
