TMT [Thermo Mechanically Treated] bars are manufactured using Thermo Mechanical Treatment technology. It is a process by which the hot-rolled bars are water quenched in order to enhance their tensile strength, weldability and ductility. TMT bars are earthquake-resistant.

The difference between Fe500 and Fe500D TMT bars: Fe500 TMT Bars are 1. Easily Bendable 2. Earthquake Resistance 3. Ductile and High Strength. Fe 500 bars have a high Sulphur percentage of 0.040, where it consumes more steel. On the other side, Fe 500D TMT bars are also the best TMT bars used for construction and have more ductile strength. Fe500D bars are certified with ISO. They contain a minimum Sulphur percentage of 0.035, which consumes less steel. The important difference between Fe500 and Fe500D TMT Bars is their respective steel consumption. Thus small factors can make a huge difference.
