Prokerala was launched in the year 2005 as a website providing the best information from around the world and the web. Our aim was to provide the best and most updated information. It is now one of the most visited websites from the country, serving over 60 million page views per month, as of January 2017. Prokerala was the first website to tap the potential of Malayalam transliteration, allowing our users to compose their own personal messages and send them along with their chosen greeting card. We initially used the Varamozhi Transliteration Software and later on developed our own custom solution to achieve this. We later extended this feature to create the first online Malayalam dictionary and bulletin board. Prokerala team developed and made freely available three Malayalam Fonts viz., Jwala, Salilam and Dharani. Dharani is the first Malayalam Unicode font to provide Malayalam language support on Mac OS. We are also proud to inform that Prokerala is the first and only website to provide a 150 year Malayalam Calendar (Kolla varsham calendar). We initiated and led the Mozilla Firefox Malayalam localization project for 3 years, before transfering it to SMC team. In the year 2008, Ennexa Technologies took over the development of Prokerala. Upon achieving the initial goal (being a complete Kerala portal), Prokerala slowly expanded its horizons and today we have myriad pages over a wide range of channels. Apart from a National/International/Entertainment News channel, Prokerala today has a very informative Travel Section, Astrology section and Entertainment section. Also it is now one of the most visited Kerala websites with around 3 million pageviews per month.
