Description

The steel making at RPSL is powered by its 12 MW captive power plant. RPSL generates 12MW of captive power for steelmaking facilities of which, 65% is thermal based electricity and the remaining 35% energy is obtained from the heat recovery unit. Heat recovery is an innovative method in which waste heat from steel manufacturing process is trapped and directed to drive turbine, this heat otherwise would’ve been released in the environment creating the harmful green house effect. The excess power is met by the power grid, as and when required.
