After a 16-year stay in the US, in 2008, Poornima Mital moved back to India. With her only son leaving for college, she pondered on ideas to keep herself busy. She remembered the time when her aunts brought traditional sweets whenever they visited the States. Longing for them, she did not find too many options to order them online. The germ of an idea was born, that led her to build a platform to enrol sellers from all across India. She pitched the idea to her husband, Niraj Mital and together, they launched Mirchi.com in late 2018. Today, Mirchi.com has over 800 large, medium, small and home sellers from all over India who list their sweets, namkeen, pickles, cookies and other gourmet products on the portal. The USP of Mirchi.com is that each of the 8000 products listed is delivered fresh, directly from the seller store to the customer. Every product on Mirchi.com is marked with dietary information (Gluten Free, Vegan, Jain etc), making it a one-stop shop for customers. Many of these products can be instantly customized and packaged with special messages for almost every occasion. Companies such as Kotak Mahindra, TVS, Cognizant have used Mirchi.com to deliver personalized gifts to individual employees all over India, a service that many corporates value immensely. Mirchi.com is powered by its own proprietary software that enables total automation of operations in four languages - from ordering to logistics. With a vision to provide the best value for buyers and sellers, Mirchi.com delivers about 250 shipments every day from all across India, hyper local, national and International.
