West Bengal Livestock Development Corporation Limited was established in the year 1974 and registered under Companies act, 1956. In the year 2018 W.B. Dairy & Poultry Development Corporation Ltd, another Govt of West Bengal undertaking, merged with this Corporation. The Corporation is under the administrative control of the Department of Animal Resources Development, Govt. of West Bengal. The Management of the Corporation vests on its Board of Directors. Presently the corporation deals with production, processing & marketing of different species meat (both as fresh-chilled and frozen form) and value added meat products in its one segment under the brand name of Haringhata®Meat; simultaneously production & marketing of feed for animals, poultry & fish under the brand name of EPIC® Feed. The Corporation has one modern semi-automatic chicken processing unit, one Pork processing unit and one small animal meat processing unit of sheep/goat within the geographical premises of Haringhata Meat Plant. To facilitate smooth activity, the corporation has also started thinking multifaceted. In line of this, a Pig breeding farm at Mohitnagar, Jalpaiguri, Broiler breeding farm at Jatiakhali, Jalpaiguri, Commercial Chicken Layer farm at Kalyani, Nadia, Duck Breeding farm, Contract Broiler Farming, Black Bengal Goat Contract Farming etc. has been started / running successfully under the aegis of the Corporation.
