Description
Plain & Chromic Catgut Sutures (Sterilized Absorbable Catgut suture USP)
Raw material description: Derived from the sub mucosal membrane of bovine small intestine (collagen) of sheep and goat.
Modified: Tanned with chromium salts to increase their persistence in the body (BENGUT CR) to delay the absorption.
Mode and Duration of absorption: Both catguts are absorbed in the tissues by enzymatic reaction in presence of enzymes (proteolysis), in case of plain it is 14 days and in chromic it is 21 days. Mode of degradation is by the body's enzymatic pathways. Tensile strength of BENGUT is maintained for 12-15 days postimplantation and absorption is complete within 70 days. Tensile strength of BENGUT CR is maintained for 18-21 days, the absorption rate is slowed by chromium salt to 90 days.
Material Color & its specification:
Beige ( BENGUT ), Brown ( BENGUT CR) (Chromic) .
