The Government of Uttar Pradesh has focused on the development of solar energy due to limited conventional energy reserves, environmental impacts, energy security, energy access, and climate change challenges. The government aims to achieve 10700 MW of solar capacity by 2022, with 4300 MW from decentralized and rooftop-scale solar projects.
