The foundation stone of DGC (Dholakiya Group of Companies) was laid in 1977 when its founder Mr. Dilip Dholakiya opened a partnership firm called "Apco Clutch Centre" in Delhi. Initially selling clutch plates in retail and wholesale, the firm later expanded to wholesale its clutch plates under the brand name "VAP". With the business growing, Mr. Dilip Dholakiya was joined by his younger brothers Mr. Bhavesh Dholakiya and Mr. Mehul Dholakiya. The firm diversified into the commercial vehicle market, procuring and selling parts for Japanese brands like Mitsubishi, Mazda, Toyota, and Nissan. In 1982, a new setup named "Apco Motors" was established in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, covering the entire Gujarat area. As more brothers, Mr. Minesh Dholakiya and Mr. Jignesh Dholakiya, joined, the group established "Vinu Auto Parts" in Delhi and "Arihant Auto Parts" in Rajkot. "Arihant Exporters" was formed for exporting goods to Gulf and African countries. A major milestone was achieved in 1999 when the group was offered the Service Dealership of Eicher Motors Limited for the Ahmedabad region, leading to the establishment of "Apco Motors India Pvt. Ltd." This concern now has a complete 3S facility for Eicher Motors Limited and is a spares distributor for Gujarat. In 2003, the group also became a Spare Distributorship for Swaraj Mazda Limited, offering a complete 3S facility for the Ahmedabad, Sabarkantha, and Gandhinagar regions. The group has sold approximately 200 C.N.G. Buses to Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (A.M.T.S). The family's strength increased to 8 members with the inclusion of Mr. Hiten Dholakiya, Mr. Dipen Dholakiya, and Mr. Jimmy Dholakiya. A new venture, "DGC Automotive Pvt. Ltd.", was formed to establish a Piston Manufacturing Facility at Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, commencing commercial production in September 2009, aiming to supply Piston assemblies to OEMs in India. The latest development is "DGC Industries Pvt. Ltd.", producing Plastic Moulded Parts for new-generation vehicles and developing Rubber Kits for suspension and gearboxes.
