The Free Press Journal is one of the oldest English daily newspapers, established in 1928 by S. Sadanand. It was the first Indian-owned English daily newspaper published from Mumbai. The newspaper played a significant role in raising India's voice during the freedom movement, covering events like the Quit India Movement and the Royal Indian Navy mutiny. It faced harassment from the British Empire, including seizure of machines and arrests of its founder editor. The publication was suspended multiple times but continued for over 9 decades. The Free Press Journal was also the first Indian entity to establish its own news agency, “Free Press of India”, with international presence. Post-Independence, it covered major historical events and continues to strive to provide authentic and unbiased news without affiliation to any political party or business house.
