LWG provides a platform that enables brands and retailers to work with suppliers throughout the value chain and build a chemical management system that is aligned with ZDHC and AFRIM Group objectives. Coupled with a robust due diligence testing programme, this helps our members to provide assurance that responsible chemical management has been practiced in the manufacture of leather from LWG certified facilities. The LWG Board makes crucial decisions about the strategy and direction of the Leather Working Group, representing the interests of all stakeholders. The Board works to achieve our ultimate aim of a fully sustainable and responsible leather industry, build on information and transparency. Leather Working Group is developing its next Standard, which will include moving from the current protocol to a Sustainability System that incorporates a Manufacturing Standard, Chain of Custody and Deforestation Due Diligence, along with the creation of a Carbon Footprint Tool. The work takes a multi stakeholder approach and is informed by ISEAL guidance. The development is overseen by a Programme Board that is made up of representatives from across our broad stakeholder group.
