Use of paints and coatings is destined to last till the end of the world. There is an ever-growing need for improved coatings across the globe due to varied nature of application requirements arising from social and economic developments. It is estimated that about 45% of the coatings produced worldwide are used to decorate and protect new and existing structures, including residential homes and apartments, public buildings, and plants and factories; another 40% to decorate and/or protect industrial products and the remaining are specialty coatings which find application in traffic paints, vehicle refinishing, high-performance coatings for industrial plants and equipment, and protection of marine structures and vessels.
