Matu saw its inception in the heartland of Charotar as part of an organization that was dedicated to serve the society in Mogar village, near Anand. “Matu” is referred to as cow in Tamil and was considered to be one of the most favourite animals of Lord Krishna. While we were determined to get back to our roots and revive the ancient traditions, the best word we could give to our identity was Matu. One fine evening, four visionary thinkers were sitting in the tranquil premises of an ashram discussing various ways in which they could help the society by getting back to the original traditions and secrets. It was then that they decided to join hands to form a family of 400 people and start delivering basic things which people use in their daily lives. Sprouting from an organization that believes in “Sevamuktischa Gamyatam”, meaning one attains true salvation by serving to the society selflessly, we emphasize on serving the community catering to their current and future needs with the help of age old traditions and practices and trying to revive our culture.
