Since our start in 1951, Midmark India has developed into the leading manufacturer and supplier of patient care and positioning equipment. Midmark (India) Pvt. Ltd. (known then as the Metalbeds Company) was established as a Partnership firm in 1951 and bagged its 1st order in 1956 from Mahatma Gandhi Hospital Parel for Rs. 2 lakhs. In the 1960s, Metalbeds started creating tubular structures in its designing & fabrication unit at Wadala. A large variety of pre-fab housing structures provided at Karad, Satara region that got devastated on account of the Koyna earthquake. At this junction, a large rate of contract got executed with Govt. of Maharashtra for storage systems. On the opposite front, as a horizontal expansion, producing of canteen steel furnishings tables, chairs, benches, and hot food carrier was undertaken. The sales team met JRD Tata and provided hospital furnishings to Tata’s Jamshedpur steel plant hospital. Metalbeds bagged the first order for hospital furniture from Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai. Metalbeds created the first manual ICU bed in the country unitedly with Jaslok Hospital, in 1976. Metalbeds became the pioneer in India with E&R trolley, two-section obstetrical table, and crash cart. Because the medical division grew, thus did the necessity of extra space for producing arisen, which led to the institution of Umbergaon plant in 1979; an area wealthy within the work ethic that would support the prosperity of each business and therefore the community. During the 1980s and 90s, the medical division quickly gained momentum and Metalbeds developed a new breed of hospital beds and new product variants like E&R trolley, and two-section Obsteric table was launched. The strategic partnership with Macquet helped in launching the OT phase in India. The distribution and service network conjointly got established across the country throughout this era. In the year 1999, Metalbeds became a “Private Limited” company and skint through the doors of the twenty-first century, providing innovative products and comprehensive patient care solutions across the country. India’s 1st indigenously designed motorized bed was launched during this era. In 2005, Metalbeds reinvented with completely new brand identity, Janak Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. Janak entered into a strategic alliance with Midmark corporation, USA in 2008. Midmark became a significant investor in Janak. Janak transformed from a family-owned business to completely professionally run organization. The deepest distribution and service network in India established. During this period, Midmark India became a fully owned subsidiary of Midmark Corporation, with its brand identity evolving to align with Midmark Corporation’s global brand identity. The company introduced advanced products such as dialysis chairs, powered examination tables, and OT lights, while also becoming the first in India to adopt nanotechnology-based pre-treatment and powder coating processes. Strategic collaborations with Stryker, WIBO, and Kokuyo further strengthened its capabilities, and the launch of the Midmark Infra division marked an important step in expanding its presence.
