In 1961, Mr. K.P.Patel incorporated a Partnership Firm in the name of M/s.PATEL BABULAL PRANLAL & BROS, at HUBLI, in the southern Indian state of Karnataka. This firm created a niche in timber business as established. The main trade for which the firm had been commenced is for the trading and Exports of Rosewood Logs which went on until 1977. To cater the demand for finished wood products, we set up 3 factories in Cochin Kalamessery to manufacture rosewood products like Veneers, Musical Instruments. These factories are 100% export Oriented Unit at Cochin city. Our Companies have been awarded “Special Export Award “ by CAPEXIL, by Govt.of India, for the Top Export of Rosewood Veneers from 1982-83 onwards and also have received Certificate of Merits continuously for the best export performances made for a number of years. To date we hold major market share of all exports of Rosewood in India making us as the largest exporter in the country. With Indian markets opening up to the world economies, Mr. K.P.Patel thought of a remarkable idea to save the depleting forest resources and venture into importing timber logs into India. With the legal approvals in place, our group diversified into importing of timber from all over the world since 1983. All our imports are operated in Mangalore city in South India. Our imports comprise of Round teak logs, Rough teak squares, medium light hardwood logs and various species. Major countries we have imported timber are Myanmar, Papua New Guinea, Cambodia, Ghana, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Togo, Benin, Mozambique, Sudan, Gabon, Ecuador, Venezuela, Suriname, Costa Rica, Panama to name a few. We are one of the largest importers of timber into India and we supply timber to over 1,700 local customers ranging 10 Indian states. With the philosophy to change and grow, Mr. K.P.Patel with his futuristic outlook, saw a great opportunity in automotive business. Having expertise in International Exports and trade for 30 years, and being into an industry that deals in capital goods, he spearheaded in diversifying the business into automotive retail in 1997. India had been witnessing a growth phase and major international automotive brands were eyeing the untapped potential of the developing Indian market. We partnered Honda to build an international 37,000 sq. ft state of the art dealership in Cochin City in 1998. This landmark dealership is a 3 ‘S’ facility with Sales, Service and Spares all under one roof. Scratching the potential of the state, we expanded our footprint to 2 other cities of Trivandrum, Alleppey. Each dealership in the mentioned cities have a state of the art infrastructure with 3’S’ facility. Along with aggressive expansion, we proved our business acumen by being the top rated dealership group in India for many years within the Honda network. With the rapid growth of Automotive in Indian market, we have also expanded to selling luxury motorcycles of Harley-Davidson and have set up the first 3’S’ dealership for HD in Cochin in 2012 over 12 years. In Auto business, we are one of the best awarded performing dealers last 25 years.
