Much before the green revolution heralded agricultural prosperity in India, an enterprising jewellery businessman in Aska, Odisha visualised and nurtured the importance of making quality rice available to food connoisseurs of the state. He saw the importance of food grain distribution and moved to Berhampur to set up Utkal Traders. He began by venturing into wholesale staple food products like rice, pulses and oil, but soon established an exclusive rice outlet in Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha. This was the vision of Shri P. Shyam Murty Patro, a pioneer who capitalised on the understanding that rice was not just a staple food for the people of Odisha; it was also a part of their DNA. He soon introduced his three sons, P. Raghu Ram Patro, P. Babu Rao Patro and P. Venkat Rao to the business and nurtured them under his expert guidance. Together, they carved out a successful growth path and became the major supplier of rice to wholesalers, institutions and traders, and also one of the most renowned distributors-cum-stockists of rice in Odisha. Recognising a need for processed rice to maintain consistency, flavour and quality they resolved to introduce their own rice brand; and soon their brain-child Utkal's Kasper was born.With the help of a state-of-the-art rice processing facility, Utkal's Kasper delivers unique, delectable and handpicked rice from the choicest farmlands across India.
