Taste for Life (TFL) was founded by Mr. Mandar Deshpande in 1998 in a small factory at Vasai with 5 staff members. Initially, a small shop was opened at Vile Parle, Mumbai, offering home delivery of 2-3 Atta variants. In 1999, Mrs. Minal Deshpande joined the business. By 2003-2007, a new shop was started at Borivali with 10 product variants, delivery franchisees were appointed in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane, and an automatic plant was set up in Mahape, Navi Mumbai. The product line expanded with 15-20 new products including the Premium Bhakri atta range between 2008-2012, and products started selling through modern format stores like Reliance, Apna Bazar, and Sahakar Bhandar. Exports to Dubai & Singapore commenced. In 2018-2022, the Mahape factory was awarded ISO 22000 accreditation, the Ready Mix range was introduced, and an online order booking mobile app was launched for Mumbai-based customers. In 2023, a fully equipped quality control lab was built, online sales commenced through the official website and e-commerce portals, and the product line comprised of Premium Wheat Atta range, Bhakri Atta range, Dal Atta Range, easy-to-prepare Ready Mixes, and a unique festive Ready Mix range. Currently, 200+ staff are employed with Taste for Life, with a majority of women in the sales team. 45,000+ happy families use TFL products across Mumbai, served by 9 exclusive distributors, around 45 franchisees, and 2000 A-class outlets.
