United Electrical Industries Ltd. (locally known as "Meter Company") is a Kerala Government undertaking with a legacy spanning over seven decades. Established in 1950, the company is situated beside NH66, 5 km from Kollam city, and 70 km north of Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala. United Electrical Industries Ltd. was the first factory in India to manufacture Electricity House Service Energy Meters. Initially, the company started manufacturing activities in technical collaboration with the globally renowned M/s Aron Meters Ltd., England. In 1957, the Kerala Government acquired major shares of the company and reconstituted it as a Public Limited Company under its ownership.
