BENCRYL-RAPID (Fast Absorption)

Rapid or Fast absorption Sutures Available in both Polyglycolic acid & Polyglactin-910 Sutures. Generally available as undyed sutures. Suture category: Coated and Braided Polyglycolic acid. Raw material description: It is a synthetic homopolymer processed from the monomers of glycolic acid to give Polyglycolic acid (Synthetic Polymer). Coating: Calcium Stearate & Poly capro lactone. Mode and Duration of absorption: Absorption occurs by hydrolysis. When compared to BENCRYL BENCRYL-RAPID is absorbed within 40-45 days. Rapid loss of strength is achieved by use of gamma irradiation technique to regular polyglycolic acid used. Material Color & its specification: Undyed Features: - Predictable, uniform absorption via hydrolysis. - Very high knot pull tensile strength, more than twice as strong as Catgut    Chromic of equivalent sizes. -   Excellent knotting and handling properties. -   Insignificant suture memory. -   Fall of Tensile Strength is not affected even in infected tissues Indications: Oral and Scalp wound, Episiotomy and Cuticular Closure, Closure of laceration under cast. Caution: Due to the rapid loss of its breaking strength it should not be used where extended approximation of tissue under stress like cardiovascular tissue or muscle is required or where wound support beyond 7 days is required.
