Fast drying chain stopped oil alkyd resins are short oil air drying resins where the oil length is shortened by chain stopping with benzoic acid. These have a better controlled molecular weight distribution and better durability. These are used in high quality fast drying paints and the soya variant is used in automotive refinishing paints.
