SM PLUS - Sulphamethoxazole with Trimethoprim Bolus

Each uncoated Bolus contains : Sulphamethoxazole USP 1000 mg Trimethoprim USP 200 mg Excipients q.s.

It is used as an intrauterine treatment for metritis cases caused by sensitive bacteria in cows and mares. It is used as oral treatment in calves, lambs and kids against infections such as Colibacillosis, Salmonellosis, Colisepticemia, and pneumonia and soft tissue infections such as umbilical infections.

It is used in mares and cows by intrauterine route and in pre-ruminant calves, lambs and kids by orally. Unless recommended otherwise by the veterinarian; Intrauterine : Hygienic conditions should be provided while inserting the bolus. Cow - mare : 2 - 4 bolus/day Oral : Bolus are administered directly or by dissolving in water. At the dose of 5 mg/kg trimethoprim + 25 mg/kg sulfamethoxazole; 1 bolus is given per 40 kg bw.

Calves, lambs and kids in oral administration and cows in intrauterine administration should not be slaughtered for human consumption during the treatment and for 14 days following the last treatment. Cow milk should not be used for human consumption during the treatment and for 10 days (20 milkings) following the last treatment.
